About Gumleaves

Gumleaves is set amid 149 acres of natural Tasmanian bushland, and a short 10 minute drive from the coast. Come Relax and rejuvenate yourself in this peaceful natural environment and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Located on the Picturesque East coast of Tasmania 1hr 30mins from Hobart. Gumleaves offers a range of accommodation options to cater for families, individuals all the way to larger groups of 130 people or more.

We are a family owned and operated business and offer a Bush retreat for families, backpackers, campers and people touring Tasmania in a caravan or motorhome. With a range of self-contained cabins, camping grounds, powered caravan sites and dormitory style rooms. Gumleaves is the perfect place to unplug and enjoy time as a family, couple or group.

With a range of activities, animals and good outdoor fun for all ages Gumleaves is the perfect getaway!

Gumleaves can accommodate large and small families with our self contained 2 and 3 bedroom cabins.

Our Large 2 Bedroom cabin can sleep up to 8 people with a queen bed, 4 bunk beds and the option of a sofa bed in the living area.

Our small 2 Bedroom cabins can sleep up to 6 people with a queen bed, 2 bunk beds and the option of a sofa bed in the living area.

Our 3 Bedroom cabins can sleep up to 10 people with a queen bed, 2 bunk beds in the main cabin area, with 4 bunk beds in an outside bedroom, just off the verandah (suitable for older children and adults), with the option of a sofa bed in the main living area.

All of our cabins are equipped with kitchens ( Stove/small oven, fridge, microwave, cooking utensils etc), bathrooms and a cozy fire place as well as outside fire places.

Group areas/Dormitory/Backpacker accommodation- Our Group areas are perfect for larger groups such as schools, special interest groups or even a family reunion!
Gum Grove can sleep up to 64 people and has a commercial kitchen with a large dining room as well as an activity room with a small kitchenette as well as a barbecue area and large outdoor fire place to tell ghost stories, roast marshmallows and bond with your peers.

The Barks group area is suited for smaller groups, Candle Bark sleeps 21 and our outside cabin rooms may be used for an extra 8 people (subject to availability). With a large dining room and commercial kitchen and an outside barbecue area, this cozy little spot makes for the perfect weekend away for family and friends.

If you don’t feel like cooking, our recommended caterers are Group Catering Tasmania. Mike and Charlotte can serve up delicious meals for your stay. Try their lasagne with potato and greek salads, or roast lamb and roast potatoes and sweet potato and steamed veggies, then chocolate fudge cake with hot chocolate sauce and ice cream or the moist apple and cinnamon cake. Caravan park – The Gumleaves caravan park boasts powered sites, amenities block, barbecue area and a large communal fire place where you can meet your temporary neighbours and get to know others who love exploring on the road as much as you do!

Camping Grounds – Our camp grounds are in a beautiful spot, right next to Lake Mulga, Possum Park and obstacle course. With a camp kitchen, fire pots, large communal fire place, barbecue areas and amenities, Gumleaves has everything you need to make your camping trip one to remember.

Activities

Come explore all of our fun activities! With Mini Golf, flying foxes, playground, tyre swings, obstacles course, play some tennis, go for a walk on our many bush walks, bring your bikes or go boating on Lake Mulga.

Get up close with the wild life, spotting possums after dark, hear the kookaburras laughing in the trees, watch the wallabies as they bounce around the park and feed carrots to our deer and horses at feeding time. Gumleaves has something for everyone!

While staying at Gumleaves, take the opportunity to explore Tasmania’s beautiful East coast.

Freycinet National Park is an hours drive north, home to stunning Wine Glass Bay. It’s well worth the hike to capture a glimpse of this incredible part of the state.

Also up north is the seaside town of Swansea. Grab a bite to eat, visit the beautiful beaches and enjoy the amazing view of Freycinet. On the way there, you’ll pass by Spiky Bridge, built by convicts in 1843, this bridge and its odd design is definitely a sight to see.

The Maria Island Ferry departs from Triabunna, a small fishing town located just 15 minutes south of Gumleaves.

Continuing south, just over an hours drive away in Richmond, Zoodoo Zoo is sure to delight you and the little ones, with a range of exotic animals, petting zoo for smaller animals such as rabbits, chickens and goats and an open range petting area where you can feed and pet wallabies, kangaroos and deer. There’s also a safari bus that takes you on a short ride to see the Emus, Zebra and Camels, Zoodoo makes for a wonderful day trip that everyone will remember.
